It’s probably been bothering you for a while, hasn’t it? You noticed it after mowing the grass one afternoon and didn’t dare say anything about it out loud. Now, that little chip in the dining room window that wasn’t so noticeable before looks like it’s getting bigger, and with cooler temperatures coming, you know you can’t put off repair any longer. But what do you do for broken window replacement? Who do you call? How much is all this going to cost?
Mr. Windows & Doors, a family-owned and operated company serving Katy, Houston, and surrounding communities, should be your first call. We have provided custom-made replacement windows, entry doors, patio doors, siding, and gutters for over ten years.
We will oversee your entire project from consultation and installation to service. With our years of experience, we can talk with you about all your options and help you think through the best choices for your unique circumstances.
Repair or Replace
We are happy to talk you through the pros and cons of repairing the existing window or replacing it. Every situation is different. We will take the time to help you consider all your options. In general, you should know that sometimes it is better to replace the window entirely, rather than try to repair it. Although it may initially seem more cost-efficient to repair the broken window, it’s essential to think about quality and energy efficiency, too. Replacing a broken window can eliminate:
- Window Seal Failure
If you’ve noticed condensation or foggy glass, the window has failed. Precipitation between glass panes is one of the most common signs your windows needs replacing. When window seals fail, efficiency is compromised. Precipitation, including fog, between the panes of glass in the window increases chances of long-term problems like mildew and mold.
- Rotten Window Frames
It’s not uncommon, especially when thinking about the extreme temperatures in Texas, for older window frames to show signs of aging. Window frames rot after long-term exposure to the elements, especially wind and rain. When window frames begin to deteriorate, the energy efficiency of the window is compromised, not to mention unsightly.
- Broken Muntins
If the muntins – the dividers in a window – are damaged or broken, they leave your window structurally vulnerable. Should muntins break, we recommend replacing the entire window rather than just the pane.
Helping With Repair For Broken Window Replacement
Sometimes repairing a window is the best option. We have courteous technicians trained to fix almost any break. Often, we can repair cracked or chipped glass in single or double panes. A $25 (20 miles from Katy) or $40 inspection fee (20+ miles from Katy) applies depending on your location. Should you move forward, we apply this fee to your order.
